Chiefs S Jarrad Page Requests Trade

Gregg Rosenthal of ProFootballTalk.com reports that Kansas City Chiefs restricted free agent safety Jarrad Page has requested a trade.

A restricted free agent tendered at the "Second Round" level, Page has started 39 of his 53 career games since being selected with the 228th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft out of UCLA.

The 25-year old Page has 198 tackles, 1 quarterback sack, and 10 interceptions during his career, with four forced fumbles. Page, who played last season under a one-year restricted free agent tender, missed the final 11 games of the '09 season after he was placed on injured reserve with a calf injury.

Kansas City used the fifth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft on University of Tennessee safety Eric Berry, and head coach Todd Haley has said this off-season that he'd be comfortable starting 2010 fifth-round pick Kendrick Lewis (Mississippi) alongside Berry this season.

"I’ll play the guys that give us the best chance to win," Haley said on June 10. "If it’s those two (Berry and Lewis) or any others or mix and match, we’ll do it."

Page has not signed his one-year tender, and has skipped the team's off-season workouts, "Organized Team Activity" sessions, and mini-camp. As expendable as Page may be to the Chiefs, attempts to orchestrate his departure from afar are unlikely to spring Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli into action.
