Colts Waive WR John Matthews

The Indianapolis Colts have waived first-year wide receiver John Matthews.

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports the Indianapolis Colts have waived first-year wide receiver John Matthews.

A 6-0, 197-pound wide receiver from San Diego University, Matthews signed with the Colts last May after going undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft. Matthews caught 7 passes for 85 yards during the pre-season, but was waived in September. Matthews spent the majority of last season on the Colts' practice squad.

Matthews' departure leaves the Colts with 77 players under contract. The Colts have yet to sign any of their 8 picks from the 2010 NFL Draft, the only NFL team to not have at least one pick under contract.

The Colts open training camp on August 1.
