Dolphins OL Nate Garner Out At Least 8 Weeks

Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Nate Garner will miss at least eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his left foot, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

The 6-7, 320-pound Garner has been with the Dolphins since being claimed off waivers from the New York Jets in 2008. Garner started eight of 16 games at guard in 2009, and is expected to provide depth at both guard spots and right tackle in 2010.

Garner originally injured the foot during the OTAs, requiring surgery that was thought to jeopardize his availability for the start of training camp. Given his recovery time, the Dolphins will need to make a decision to enter the season short one offensive linemen, or place Garner on season-ending injured reserve.
