Jaguars Claim WR John Matthews Off Waivers

The Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed wide receiver John Matthews off waivers.

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports the Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed wide receiver John Matthews off waivers.

Matthews was waived by the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday.

A 6-0, 197-pound wide receiver from San Diego University, Matthews signed with the Colts last May after going undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft. Matthews caught 7 passes for 85 yards during the pre-season, but was waived in September. Matthews spent the majority of last season on the Colts' practice squad.

Matthews joins a wide receiving corps that is headed up by starters Mike Sims-Walker and Mike Thomas, and has veterans Kassim Osgood and Troy Williamson, second-year wideouts Jarett Dillard and Tiquan Underwood, journeyman Nate Hughes and Clarence Denmark, and undrafted rookies Roren Thomas and Jason Harmon vying for roster spots.
