Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports the Cincinnati Bengals have a deal in place that will make Jay Gruden the offensive coordinator.

PFT's report has been confirmed by Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Gruden, 43, played quarterback at Louisville and with the Barcelona Dragons in NFL Europe before a prolific career with the Tampa Storm of the Arena Football League.

After entering the arena league's coaching ranks with the Nashville Kats, Gruden became head coach of the Orlando Predators in 1998. Gruden returned to the field with the Predators in 2002, before heading back to coaching duties from 2004-08.In addition to coaching in the arena league, Gruden was an offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers under his brother, John Gruden, from 2002-08.

Gruden has spent the last two seasons coaching in the United Football League.

The Bengals fired longtime offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski on Monday.
