Jets NT Kris Jenkins Has Torn ACL

New York Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins' 2010 season has come to an end, as an MRI has confirmed that Jenkins tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Monday night, Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network reports.

Jenkins was limited to six games in 2009 after tearing the same ligament.

Jenkins is the third major injury to hit the Jets' front seven this season. Starting outside linebacker Calvin Pace is sidelined with a foot injury, and back-up defensive end Ripoti Pitoitua will miss the season with a torn Achilles' tendon.

With Jenkins out, the Jets will look to Matt Kroul, Mike Devito, and Marcus Dixon to plug the gap at nose tackle. Other options include elevating Martin Tevaseu from the practice squad and re-signing Howard Green, who posted 23 tackles for the Jets last season.
