New York Jets safety Jim Leonhard has been placed on injured reserve, the team announced on Saturday.
Leonhard fractured his tibia during a collision with wide receiver Patrick Turner during Friday's practice.
"Surgery on Leonhard's fractured right tibia Friday night was successful and a full recovery is expected for the 6th-year player", the team added.
Leonhard followed Rex Ryan to the Jets, signing a three-year, $5.875 million contract in 2009. Leonhard has started all 27 games he's been with the Jets, totaling 137 tackles, 2.5 quarterback sacks, 2 interceptions, and 9 passes defensed while averaging 9.8 yards on 42 punt returns.
