Jets QB Erik Ainge Enters Rehab

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that New York Jets quarterback Erik Ainge has entered drug treatment facility to treat "recreational issues".

Mehta adds that the Jets are "very disappointed" in Ainge, who reportedly suffered a relapse, and that the third-year quarterback from Tennessee could be facing an 8-game suspension for a repeat violation of the league's substance abuse policy.

"I am taking some personal time to address a non-football related illness. Thank you for all the love, thoughts, and concerns. I love you all", Ainge wrote on Twitter on August 2, adding best wishes to fellow Jets who are on the social networking site.

"And to the rest of my Jet teammates. I love you all and wish I could be there."

The Jets placed Ainge on the "Reserve/Non-Football Illness" list at the beginning of training camp.
