Jets Sign DT Simi Toeaina

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports the New York Jets have signed defensive lineman Simi Toeaina.

An undrafted free agent out of Oregon, the 6-3, 308-pound Toeaina spent much of his career with the Ducks playing a reserve role along the interior of the defensive line. In 21 games, Toeaina totaled 14 tackles, including three for a loss. Toeaina established career highs in 2009 with 13 games played and 11 tackles.

A native of San Francisco, Toeaina attended Samoana High School in American Samoa. Simi is the younger brother of Matt Toeaina, a free agent who appeared in five games for the Chicago Bears over the last three seasons, after beginning his career as a sixth-round pick out of Oregon by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2007.

Simi is an undrafted free agent. His older brother Matt was the sixth-round pick by the Bengals in 2007.
