Lions Sign Safety C.C. Brown

The Detroit Lions have signed free agent safety C.C. Brown, John Niyo of the Detroit News reports.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
A sixth-round pick (188th overall) by the Houston Texans in 2005, Brown signed a one-year deal with the Giants last season, appearing in 16 games and totaling 69 tackles with three passes defensed. Brown started 7 games at free safety, but poor play led to Aaron Rouse replacing him in the starting lineup in Week 9.
In 66 career games, Brown has 323 tackles, 7 forced fumbles, 1 quarterback sack, 3 interceptions, and 17 passes defensed.
The Giants placed the "Right of First Refusal" restricted free agent tender on Brown in early March, which was rescinded after the Giants signed veteran safety Deon Grant to a one-year deal on April 1.
