Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network is hearing that the five-year contract extension that the San Diego Chargers and left tackle Marcus McNeill are close to finalizing is worth $48.5 million.

The guaranteed portion of the deal is not yet known, but La Canfora adds that the base salaries are not guaranteed and that McNeill will receive $30 million over the first three years.

New York Jets left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson's six-year, $60 million extension from July included $30 million in guarantees.
