Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reports that Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen will not attend the 2010 NFL Draft in New York City next week, choosing instead to gather with family to watch the draft from Palm Springs, Florida, where his grandfather resides.
Clausen's grandfather, whose wife passed recently, would not be able to attend the draft in New York, Florio reports.
This week, Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, Florida cornerback Joe Haden, Wake Forest cornerback Brandon Ghee, Iowa offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga, Texas defensive tackle LaMarr Houston, Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, and Cal running back Jahvid Best accepted invitations to attend the event.
Clemson running back C.J. Spiller, Nebraska defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and offensive tackle Trent Williams, Georgia Tech defensive end Derrick Morgan, Tennessee safety Eric Berry and defensive tackle Dan Williams, Oklahoma state offensive tackle Russell Okung, and Penn State defensive end Jared Odrick had already accepted invites to attend.
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy are believed to have been invited, but have yet to accept or decline.
