Packers Release DE Michael Montgomery

The Green Bay Packers announced the release of veteran defensive end Micheal Montgomery.

A sixth-round pick (180th overall) out of Texas A&M by the Green Bay Packers in 2005, Montgomery appeared in 56 games over the last five seasons for the Packers, totaling 123 tackles and 5 quarterback sacks.

Released by the Packers in March, the 6-5, 282-pound Montgomery totaled 11 tackles for the Minnesota Vikings during the 2010 pre-season, but did not make the team's 53-man roster.

Re-signed by the Packers on October 15, Montgomery appeared in two games during his second stint in Green Bay, but recorded no statistics.

Montgomery's release clears a roster spot for the addition of cornerback Al Harris or safety Atari Bigby, who are expected to come off the PUP list this week.
