Panthers LB Thomas Davis Leaves Practice With Injury

Carolina Panthers restricted free agent linebacker Thomas Davis left today's practice with an undisclosed injury, Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer reports.

According to Gantt, Davis was backpedaling during an individual drill when he slipped and fell to the ground. Davis walked off the field with Ryan Vermillion, the Panthers' head trainer.

The injury is not believed to be serious, but it is noteworthy as Davis is coming off surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee which ended his 2009 season after just 7 games.

A 2005 first-round pick (14th overall) out of the University of Georgia, Davis has 388 tackles, 11 quarterback sacks, and 3 interceptions over the last five seasons. Davis was not eligible for unrestricted free agency this off-season, and was tendered at the "First- and Third-Round" level by the Panthers, which carries a $3.268 million dollar base salary in 2010.

Gantt adds that sixth-round quarterback Tony Pike was finally able to join the team for their "Organized Team Activity" sessions.
