Carolina Panthers wide receiver Charly Martin's hamstring injury has landed him on injured reserve, reports Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer.

A second-year undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M, Martin (6-1, 212) fought through a broken left middle finger during training camp to make the Panthers' 53-man roster.

Martin only caught one pass during the pre-season, but posted 5 special teams tackles. When Wallace Wright was placed on IR with a shoulder injury, a spot opened up for Martin.

Martin had a special teams tackle against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Cornerback C.J. Wilson has been signed to take Martin's spot on the 53-man roster. A seventh-round pick (226th overall) out of Baylor, Wilson has 14 tackles and 4 passes defensed in 15 games for the Panthers between 2007-09.

Wilson was tendered at the "Original Round" level as a restricted free agent this off-season, but he and his $1.101 million base salary were released on September 4. Martin will make considerably less than that, and is already minus one game check.
