Carolina Panthers second-round quarterback Jimmy Clausen sustained a concussion during Sunday's 31-16 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Joseph Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.

When Clausen was concussed is not known, but Panthers head coach John Fox seemed to point to the game's final play, where Buccaners quarterback Aqib Talib dove head-first onto a pile of players during a quarterback sneak.

"It’s hard to say. Could have been any number of plays, but there’s a chance it could have happened on the last play," said Fox, who added that the rookie from Notre Dame is day-to-day.

Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith took exception to Talib's play, drawing a personal foul penalty, and likely a $7,500 fine from the NFL.

"That's not frustration. That's the fight in me," Smith said on Sunday. "I'm not going to quit, I'm not going to let whoever it is come in there and cheap-shot my guy. Call it what you want, label it whatever you want to label it, but that's football."
