The New England Patriots announced the re-signing of linebacker Pierre Woods.

An undrafted free agent from Michigan, Woods (6-5, 255) started eight of 52 games for the Patriots between the 2006 and 2009 seasons, totaling 105 tackles and a quarterback sack, with 58 of his tackles coming on special teams.

Woods was a restricted free agent for the second straight off-season, and had been tendered at the "Right of First Refusal" level. The Patriots released Woods at the end of training camp.

Woods takes the roster spot of Shawn Crable, his former teammate at Michigan, who was released on Tuesday.
