The Oakland Raiders announced the signing of sixth-round linebacker Travis Goethel.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but as the 190th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Goethel likely received a signing bonus of roughly $103,000, making his four-year deal worth $1.893 million dollars.

Goethel started 41 of his 50 games at Arizona State University, totaling 228 tackles, including 19 for a loss and two quarterback sacks. Goethel also intercepted three passes, broke up 9 passes, forced three fumbles and recovered another during his career.

Goethel started at strong-side and weak-side linebacker, earning honorable mention All-Pac 10 honors after his senior season. Questionable speed projects Goethel to middle or strong-side linebacker, where Goethel has reportedly been lining up during the team’s OTAs.

If he makes the 53-man roster, the 6-2, 240-pound Goethel is expected to contribute on special teams during his rookie season.
