ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the New Orleans Saints have reached agreement on a two-year contract with free agent defensive end Alex Brown.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Brown, released by the Chicago Bears last week, visited the Saints on Tuesday, the first stop on a free agency tour that was to include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints' NFC South rival, on Thursday.

A fourth-round pick (104th overall) out of the University of Florida by the Bears in 2002, Brown missed just one game during his eight seasons in Chicago. The 6-3, 260-pounder started 107 of his 127 career games, totaling 372 tackles, and his 43.5 quarterback sacks rank fourth in Bears' history.

With Brown signed to a multi-year deal, the Saints may not be as hard-pressed replace defensive end Charles Grant in the first-round of the 2010 NFL Draft. The Saints released Grant, who finished the 2009 season on injured reserve with a triceps injury, when the new league year began on March 5.
