Saints Sign RB Julius Jones
By admin
Free agent running back Julius Jones has signed with the New Orleans Saints, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Saints will need to make a corresponding roster move to add Jones, who was released by the Seattle Seahawks after last week's acquisition of Marshawn Lynch from the Buffalo Bills.
The Saints host the Seahawks on November 21.
After leading the Seahawks in rushing in 2008 and 2009, Jones fell behind Justin Forsett and Leon Washington in the running back-by-committee approach, and had 12 carries for 30 yards in three games before his release.
For his career, the 29-year old former second-round pick out of Notre Dame by the Dallas Cowboys has 4,875 yards and 22 touchdowns on 1,232 carries. Jones equaled or set career-highs with 35 receptions for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2009.
