Saints Tweak Practice Squad

The New Orleans Saints have tweaked their practice squad, releasing wide receiver Montez Billings and replacing him with offensive lineman Brian De La Puente.

Billings had been signed to the practice squad on Thursday.

The well-traveled De La Puente joins his fifth NFL team since signing with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of Cal in 2008. De La Puente spent half of his rookie season on the Kansas City Chiefs' active roster, but did not appear in a game.

Last season, the 6-2, 308-pound guard split his season between the Seattle Seahawks and Carolina Panthers' practice squads.

After re-joining the 49ers this off-season, whose current offensive line coach Mike Solari handled those duties with the Seahawks in 2009, De La Puente was waived as part of the team's final roster cuts before the start of the season.

De La Puente had a brief stint on the Seattle's practice squad last month.
