Seahawks HC Pete Carroll Wants to Win Now

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll wants to win right now, Albert Breer of the Boston Globe reports.

"I’m not gonna be one of those guys — build for the future, and by Year 3 we’ll be this or that," Carroll told Breer last week. "I couldn’t care less about that type of thinking. We’re trying to win our division right now, and see how far we can take it. I don’t know any other way to think. I’m not looking for security. I’m not looking for unconditional support. I don’t care about any of that stuff. We’re all going at this thing together, and we’ll see how far we can take it."

Carroll doesn't have to be one of those guys waiting for success down the road, because that role on the Seahawks belongs to general manager John Schneider, who is acutely aware of that.

"People out there need to understand that Pete’s a lot more positive than I am," Schneider said during an interview with Seattle sports radio station 950-KJR last Wednesday. "It’s my job to be a little bit more long-term, look a little more down the line. Pete’s very excited about our club and where we’re going. I’m excited, as well, but I think we still feel like we have several holes to fill, and sometimes you have to fill those holes halfway before you can get all the way to the top.

"I think we’re just going to have to have some patience, and see what comes to us."
