Seahawks Issues Statement Regarding Leroy Hill Arrest

Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider has issued the following the statement regarding the arrest of linebacker Leroy Hill:
"While we are still in the process of gathering information, we are aware of the situation involving Leroy Hill and take these issues very seriously. We will wait to receive all the facts before commenting further."
Hill faces 4th Degree Assault/Domestic Violence charges in Issaquah, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. Police were summoned to Hill's condominium, where they noticed injuries on Hill's live-in girlfriend, who indicated that Hill was responsible for them.
Hill has spent his entire five-year career with the Seahawks, and signed a six-year, $36 million dollar contract extension last off-season, which will pay him $6 million dollars in guaranteed base salary in 2010.
Earlier this month, Hill plead guilty to marijuana possession charges in Georgia and was sentenced to 12 months probation, 30 hours of community service, and must complete a drug and alcohol abuse program within 180 days.
Hill was already facing additional testing under the league's substance abuse policy, and would likely be suspended for one game for his guilty plea on the marijuana charges. When combined with his marijuana possession, his latest arrest, conviction or not, may result in a multi-game suspension, with each game he's suspended costing Hill $352,941, 1/17th of his $6 million dollar base salary.
