Seahawks LB Leroy Hill's Trial Delayed

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill's trial for misdemeanor assault/domestic violence charges has been delayed after both sides agreed to a continuance, Greg Johns of seattlepi.com reports.

Hill waived his right for a speedy trial, and Issaquah Municipal Court Judge N. Scott Stewart set a jury call for August 20. The Seahawks host the Green Bay Packers at Qwest Field on August 21.

Hill's attorney, Jon Fox, says he needs the additional time to "further investigate some matters I've recently become aware of".

According to Johns, Hill said he will be in training camp when veterans are due to report on Friday. The sixth-year linebacker has already been suspended for the 2010 regular season opener against San Francisco after pleading guilty to possession of marijuana charges in Georgia. Hill was also docked an additional game check, which will cost him over $705,882 in base salary.

Depending on the outcome of his current legal case, Hill may face additional league discipline. Additionally, the guarantees on his $6 million dollar base salary may void, which could prompt the Seahawks to release the oft-injured linebacker.
