Seahawks S Kevin Ellison Pleads Not Guilty

Seattle Seahawks safety Kevin Ellison plead not guilty to felony drug possession charges in Torrance Superior Court.

Seattle Seahawks safety Kevin Ellison plead not guilty to felony drug possession charges in Torrance Superior Court, Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times reports.

O'Neil adds that Ellison's next scheduled court date is for October 5, a Tuesday, which is normally a day off for players during the regular season. The Seahawks have a bye that week.

Ellison was arrested on May 24 in Redondo Beach, California, after authorities discovered 100 Vicodin pills in his vehicle during a traffic stop. Ellison, who played for the San Diego Chargers at the time of his arrest, did not have a prescription for the pain-killing medication.

Originally scheduled to be arraigned last Thursday, the case was postponed until today. Ellison's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, was expected to seek a plea deal with prosecutors. It is unclear if reports that Ellison's arrest sparked a DEA investigation into two team doctors for the Chargers are complicating any plea deal for Ellison.

The Chargers have denied that Ellison received the pain-killers from the club.
