Seahawks to Sign QB J.P. Losman

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports the Seattle Seahawks are set to sign free agent quarterback J.P. Losman.

The 22nd overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Tulane by the Buffalo Bills, Losman (6-2, 212) started 33 games during his five seasons with the Bills, completing 59.2% of his pass attempts for 6,211 yards, with 33 touchdowns and 34 interceptions, compiling a passer rating of 75.6.

Buffalo made no effort to re-sign Losman, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2008 season. Losman signed with the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League, where he completed 62.6% of his passes for 1,193 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, leading the Locos to the first ever UFL Championship.

After working out for the Indianapolis Colts last December, Losman signed with the Oakland Raiders, and threw one incomplete pass in the Raiders' 20-19 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 15.

The Raiders did not extend a qualifying offer to Losman, despite him not being eligible for unrestricted free agency.

Losman replaces first-year quarterback Mike Reilly on the Seahawks' 80-man off-season, and adds considerable competition to the back-end of Seattle's quarterback depth chart.
