Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed isn't happy with his contract situation, and is accusing the club of lying to him, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

"I'm not going to point anyone out or any statement out, but, yeah, I was told one thing and another thing happened," Reed said on Saturday. "I understand business moves, but I'm not a big fan of lying."

The Steelers placed the franchise tag on Reed this off-season, which Reed signed on April 13, guaranteeing himself a $2.814 million dollar base salary in 2010.

Reed, 31, is 189-for-227 (83.3%) on field goal attempts during his eight seasons with the Steelers, with a career long of 53 yards. In 2009, Reed connected on 27-of-31 on field goals, with a long of 46 yards.

Reed is also 16-of-18 on field goal attempts in the post-season during his career, with both of his playoff misses came in 2002, Reed's rookie season. The former North Carolina standout ranks second on the Steelers' all-time scoring list with 855 points, and his 189 field goals are the second-most in team history, behind only Gary Anderson.

"I'm really disappointed...extremely...little bit bitter," Reed said. "That's probably not a good choice of words. I'm not here to burn bridges. I got to play football. I'm not happy, but I'm happy to be with all these guys and be a part of the organization.

"It's one of those things, life is not really fair. I've experienced that a few times in this league. I honestly feel that if you perform, no matter if you kick at Heinz field or a dome, as a kicker, you deserve to get compensated for it."
