Texans Owner Seeks to Reduce/Overturn Cushing Suspension

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair is scheduled to meet with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to reduce or overturn linebacker Brian Cushing's four-game suspension, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Cushing, the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2009, is suspended for the first four games of the 2010 season after testing positive for hCG, which is on the list of banned substances as its often used as a masking agent.

According to McClain, Cushing maintains that he is innocent, and out of concern that he'll test positive again, has visited specialists throughout the country hoping to show that hCG occurs naturally in his body. McNair is also convinced that Cushing, the Texans' first-round pick in 2009, is innocent and will present new evidence to Goodell in the hopes that Cushing's suspension will be reduced or eliminated altogether.
