Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice will come off the physically unable to perform list today, head coach Brad Childress announced during his Wednesday press conference.
Rice had surgery on his hip during the off-season, and has been on the PUP list since the opening of training camp. Rice will have three weeks of practice time before the Vikings will have to make another move to add him to the active roster.
A second-round pick (44th overall) out of South Carolina in 2007, Rice is coming off a breakout season, catching a team-high 83 passes for 1,312 yards and 8 touchdowns, earning his first trip to the Pro Bowl.
Rice (6-4, 202) has 129 receptions for 1,849 yards and 16 touchdowns in his 42-game NFL career, and is earning a $550,000 base salary in the final year of his rookie contract.
