Welker May Have Time Share on Revis Island

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker, who has finished first (2009) and second (2008) in the NFL in receptions the last two seasons, may spend considerable time on Revis Island this afternoon.

Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that on some plays, to be determined by down and distance, the New York Jets may place All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis on Welker, who typically lines up in the slot.

When Revis moves inside, Antonio Cromartie will cover Randy Moss with a safety over the top, Mehta adds.

Revis missed all of training camp due to a contract dispute, and a sore hamstring landed him on the Jets' injury report late in the week.
