Confessions of a Polluted Mindset - Packers "Cook" Russ and the Seahawks

The Weekly Packers Brain Drain from Jersey Al.

Sorry Russ -  I shouldn't dislike Russel WIlson. Sure he's corny as hell, which was recently exhibited again with that ridiculous video he put out. By all accounts, he's a good human that does a ton of good things for sick kids. And yet - ever since the Fail Mary, and hearing him and Pete Carrol interviewed after that game and the arrogance and pure bullshit they put out there, I just can't get past that. So yeah, it delights me more than it probably should to see him fail.

It's Fundamental - Many things seem to have improved with the Packers' defense under Joe Barry, but if you want to get down to the simplest and most important thing - it's the tackling. There's a huge improvement with this team's tackling fundamentals for many of the same players that were here under Mike Pettine. I've got to think that Barry is much more of a "teacher" than Pettine was. Hell, if you can teach Kevin King to keep a solid base and not over commit and throw his shoulder at player's feet, you can help anyone.

High Hopes - I've been lucky enough to have seen a Packers WIld card and Divisional win at Lambeau, and a Super Bowl win in Dallas.  What I'm missing is an NFC Championship game at Lambeau. That's why #1 seed is my personal top goal for the Packers' regular season. Selfish, I know.

Testy, Testy - Rodgers was asked in a press conference how he would have felt if he tested positive before the Super Bowl and had to miss it, either because he got COVID or was an unvaccinated close contact. He responded by saying he doesn't do hypotheticals and all he knows is he doesn't have to be tested for 90 days. Well 90 days as of his reactivation on Saturday puts him about a week before the Super Bowl, which is 99 days from last Saturday. So, he will need to start testing again a week before the Super Bowl, should the Packers get there. Being ruled out for being an unvaccinated close contact is, in fact, a possibility. How's that for a hypothetical.

Not Seeing Red - So if your defense's one failing has been in the red zone, one solution is to keep teams out of there. That's pretty much what they did on Sunday.

Too Obvious - As soon as I saw the third and short shotgun handoff to Dylan, I new exactly where it was heading - three times, as a matter of fact. In every case, Dillon was met behind the LOS by the Seahawks because they knew where to go. Only once did it work, when Dillon single-handedly ran through and dragged Bobby Wagner over the goal line. Dillon fully PLUNDERED THE SOUL of a future Gold Jacket wearer, there. But I'd really appreciate not making it so easy for the defense by basically holding up a sign that says "If we run the ball, it's going right here."

Not the 10 Yard Line - Any time I see a Packer ball carrier get tackled right at the 10 yard line, I let out a few mild curse words. Is it me or do they just never seem to score touchdowns in those situations?

haha, great post. You're as selfish as the rest of us as much as I'd like to be altuistic and wish the superbowl only for the sake of GB players' dreams and SB cheese sponsers...hehe.

Ok, maybe tackling has improved. It's elusive to nail this one fundamental....but I agree.

I still think that having an impact ILB player(s), has shored up the one weak unit that has consistently let the other 2 broad units waste their efforts on fairly easy conversions on 3rd. down. Then extended drives, tired pass rushers, etc was just enough to keep that defense somewhere in the middle despite all pro CB, IDL and OLB. You just MUST have all 3 units competitive, for the all pros to really propel that Defense into the top 5. Just my opinion that grew over the last 10 years watching weak ILB play in the middle, and grew even more conviction now watching Campbell. This is no discredit to the respectable Martinez, and others who were individually very good in certain aspects (tackling), but were weak in coverage, and Capers/Pettine couldn't compensate their weakness with another ILB's coverage strengths.

porupack, I would agree that a strong reason for the improvement on defense is the Packers picking up Campbell and the fact that this position is a point of interest to our new DC.

The defense is really fun to watch, especially without two of there best players in the game. As much as it would be great to have them back, I am not sure if there defense would improve as much as we would think it would. This is a strange statement as I really like those two players but if they do come back, hopefully the other nine players will not feel that they can now relax a bit as we now have these pro bowlers in the line up.

An interesting point re the hypothetical of when JA and Z return.

The only thing that I can think of is that Z provides that pure pass-rush capability that none of the other OLB's can. Ironically, he's actually a slight liability on run plays as he can struggle with containment assignments.

I totally agree too that Campbell is the missing piece of this D, but with each of the other 3 units (Secondary, D-line, OLB's) collectively elevating their play, the Packers are now legitimately multi-dimensional and can cover an injury or 2............ except for Campbell, that's the one guy on the team that's the least replaceable.

Regarding Rodgers - being a fan of the Pat McAfee show, and having watched and heard Rodgers on there for a while now, I've come to the following conclusion:

The only things that I really want to hear from Aaron Rodgers are "Green-19", "Blue-58" and "Hutt"......... OK, and the odd "Kill, Kill, Kill".

Not that I'm now an anti-ARod-er, I just only really want to see him playing the game of football!

Re his seemingly speedy recovery - that's attributable to early detection and intervention. He was diagnosed whilst he was still asymptomatic (credit there to the Public Health safeguards put in place by the league)...... which is a massive difference to commencing treatments once symptoms are present (as the virus already has a solid hold).

I was under the impression that doctors can treat symptoms but have to wait for the immune system to fight off a virus.

Someone with medical knowledge can correct me, but I think we have to give credit to Aaron Rodgers' immune system for his speedy recovery.

Russ, as an ex-badger, might have had some sympathies in the past, but a decade and douchiness have eroded any of that. His tears are just as sweet as D(ic)K Metcalfs and the gum chewers.

Tackling has improved, whether that is due to teaching or leadership from those that do it in a meaningful manner (Campbell, Barnes, Amos) or from lack of bad examples - Z - we just cannot know. I suspect coaches having the greatest share of the improvement from Barry on down.

An NFCCG at Lambeau is not dependent upon the GBP getting the #1 seed. Number 1 seeds have lost before and they will again. Don't lose hope Al, and please, be as selfish as you like when GBP goals are a part of your selfishness!

One would think that Rodgers would have gotten a bit of a dose of reality and also maybe realize now exactly how the misinformation he has received and spread, his lack of veracity and personal selfishness can negatively impact others, but here we are... just get the fukkin shot!

I do not see anything that precludes Dillon from running outside zone plays. He is plenty nimble enough to move off tackle. I am with ya Al, predictability of run location especially near the goal line is pretty stoopid and is a weakness of MLFs playcalling in the red zone and short yardage. Mix it up! AJ can handle it!

Perhaps some of those outside zone runs when it is 1st and goal from the 10 yd line would break some tendencies and allow the offense to get off the schneid and into the GOLD zone again.

Thanks Al, keep on keepin on!

Yeah take the damn shot, never mind that you are allergic to some of the ingredients and your doctor advised you not to. Never mind what the allergic reaction may be, just take it because woke dumb asses say you need to. They know more than your personal physician so you better take it or else. What a load of crap.....

What you choose to believe or your opinion is totally irrelevant to another person's health. This is what is so great about this country. That choice is between them and their doctor. The problem is this woke culture seems to believe their opinion is all that matters and we must follow or else. Not going to happen.

that philosophy goes out the window when your choice affects everyone around you. you live in a society. your "choice" (selfishness) in this case drags down the country (team) around you .
so, get the shot. it's not for you, it's for everyone.

Show me the data where this vax prevents the spread of Covid and don't come back with the crap that it prevents people from having to go to the hospital. We all know that's a lie because a Viking player had the shot and was hospitalized. In addition, 8 other vaccinated Vikings players got Covid. Big Ben was vaccinated, caught Covid and recently missed a game. So why is it that your demand must be followed?

Did you really just type "show me the data?" If you really don't know where to look, it must be because you don't want to. Might find some stuff out that contradicts your "asleep" assertions. But I do agree everyone has the right to do what they want with their bodies, even if they're making a mistake. I'll leave my comments on this topic at that.

I'm really trying to stay out of the covid talk, because it is polarizing and everyone has their opinions on it. I think just about everyone knows someone that has been impacted by this one way or another.

The part I will just say though, is that I don't think its fair to judge people for whatever their decision is regarding their own personal health. And lets be honest, anyone that has not been vaccinated is being crucified in the public opinion. That just isn't right. No one knows their health situation. We shouldn't be passing on judgement when we really don't know.

And as far as the making a mistake comment, how do we know it is making a mistake? 5 years from now what if we look back and say, it was a mistake taking it? We truly don't know. For me it goes back to not judging others for what they do/don't do. Maybe eventually in our society we can become a little more understanding towards other people and not be so quick to judge. That's probably an unrealistic hope of mine, but I'm optimistic.

I think Rogan gave Rodgers therapeutic advice after he tested positive. The treatments helped him re cover in a few days....Regeneron monoclonal antibodies, HCQ, Ivermectin, Etc. Rodgers tested positive on a Monday, on Tuesday he felt ill but by Thursday was feeling good.

Many doctors have used these therapeutics with great success after patients got covid...Dr. Peter McCollough/TX is a doc who has testified in Congress and written in medical journals about success healing his patients. Hasn't lost a Patient to covid. He uses vaccines too but mostly for at risk patients.

Rodgers now has natural immunity so a reinfection will be very rare.

In several media interviews, McCullough has spread misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines and treatments. He has claimed that there is no scientific reason for healthy people under 50 and those who have recovered from COVID to get the vaccine, and has asserted that 50,000 Americans have died from the shots. According to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), there have been 6,490 deaths after COVID vaccination -- and it's unclear if the immunizations were the actual cause of death in these cases.

McCullough has also come under fire for promoting the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19. A group of clinicians from Doctors for America, a nonprofit physician organization, wrote in the Dallas Morning News last December that they were "deeply concerned after hearing the baseless, misleading commentary" from McCullough, in which he promoted the use of the antimalarial drug for early outpatient COVID-19 care. Randomized controlled trials have repeatedly shown that hydroxychloroquine is not effective to treat or prevent COVID-19, the physicians said.

To be fair about VAERS they are saying that the actual reporting for it is around 1%. Some think 1-10% is reality. So its hard to say for sure what the real number is.

What's wrong is thinking that what happened to a couple of people is representative of anything meaningful. They also could have recovered just fine without the help of anything they did. Statistically, that's the much more likely occurrence. Personally, I know a lot of people (mostly in their 20's and 30's) who got it and recovered fine on their own. So until there is some kind of proof more substantial than what Dr. Joe Rogan says, color me extremely skeptical.

Then you posted a link from a shady website touting the efficacy of ivermectin. Another anti vax ploy. Am I to decipher that when you say it you don’t mean it that way?

I would take ivermectin too if my doctor prescribed it. If he tried to prescribe it for something it’s not approved for, I’d tell him to go f himself.

Like opposing teams to Rodgers - we "despise" him in an admiring way!

Apart from the 'fail mary" play, on all the other ill-fated SEA games the Packers allowed themselves to be beaten............. do not forget that trick FG play by SEA in the NFCCG where the holder threw to a wide open receiver who leaked out.......... 4 extra points........ gifted!

That's why I wonder if instead of Deguara and Lancaster flanking the kicking unit, whether Big Dawg and Lazard wouldn't be better. They are sure blockers....... and dual, legit receiving threats.

I've always advocated for a QB (either starting or backup) to be the holder anyway.

It would certainly slow down the opposing outside kick-rushers if there's a legitimate threat of having a ball ballooned over their head to a wide open receiver.

.......... I marvel at some of the inventive deception of some of the other teams in this area (like SEA) and lament that the Packers don't rate it at all.

Al's right, the tackling has been much improved. Matter of fact I can't remember a better tackling defense in Green Bay since maaaaybe 2010 but probably 1996 when Fritz was our DC...The tackling is better, but so is De'Vondre Campbell, at least when compared to ANY ILB since probably Bishop. I loved Bishop but IMO Campbell is better, at least when you compare 2010 Bishop to 2021 Campbell.

As much as I'd love to have the Tampa Bay Bucs in January I want the Cowboys. Wanting the Cowboys here has nothing to do with Mike McCarthy, I appreciate everything MM did for this franchise. He was a good coach who just stayed to long and had a GM who didn't do as much as he could to help him.

Nope, I want Dallas for one reason...To see that STUPID look on Jerry Jones face when they get beat. When I watched the Cowboys passing the ball this weekend when up 36-3, then scoring a TD and then watching Jerry pumping his fists, celebrating with his son's like they scored a TD in a close game pissed me off. I've seen it too many times from Jones and prefer that STUPID look much more. You know the one. The look he had when Dez DIDN'T catch the ball in 2014!

Not a bad wish NickPerry. Yes, I agree with you about the tackling and certainly about Campbell and our DC's emphasis on the ILB position.

Beating Dallas in the playoffs would be pretty sweet. I used to really like the cowboys back in the Tom Landry days. The team with the way the OL used to get in position and then partially stand and then go down in position seemed pretty classy to me. Not sure what they called that--flex something or other. I thought Tom Landry was a first class head coach and then Jerry Jones comes in and, in my opinion, kicks Landry aside in a most disrespectful manner and hired his own coach. Ever since then, I have no respect for Jones and no longer like the Plowboys! There, I feel better.

I can't stand WIlson, either. I liked him as a rent-a-Badger, but the Fail Mary game, followed by his insistence that his last-minute interception in the Super Bowl was God teaching him a lesson (what? The other players and the coaches on your team don't count? Did they ALL need lessons from God at that particular moment?) put him on a downhill slide towards "Person I Root Against" for me. The icing on the douche cake was his terrible and cringe-worthy All-About-Me commencement address at my daughter's UW graduation in 2016. He may be a nice guy, but I think he's at least as narcissistic as another QB we know well. I sure as hell hope he never sniffs the inside of a Super Bowl again unless he's seated in the stands.

This is just too political. There are more recent reports of the serious side effects from Pfizer's vaccine - although in small numbers. Unfortunately, govt can't be trusted anymore to give you all the details. Govt is concerned about the 95+% of the people. It's an impossibility for govt to do things right for 100% of the people. So people have to be able to think for themselves and make decisions for themselves. And AR should have been more careful. But everyone is being less careful now.

AR's now natural immunity should take him well beyond the 99 days. As long as we don't get a new *#&(@$! variant!

I’m still amazed at all the people clamoring for Love. He clearly isn’t ready. Personally I’m not sure he ever will be. We have the best team in the nfl right now that’s because we got Rodgers a defense. Now everyone wants to throw it all away for what? Love? Rodgers and a good D could be a dynasty, what everyone’s ever wanted and complained about for years, now most of you want to trash it because of personal petty crap. If Gute throws it away for personal petty crap he should be fired immediately, hopefully he has more sense and can see the bigger picture better than most on here.

Clamoring for Love in 22 is different than doing it for next week. Also, do you think he'd be better 10 games in than he was in game 1?

Correct it is different. But regardless if he isn't ready, he isn't ready.

You would hope he would better in 10 games. But they could be 5-5, 3-7, 0-10 after 10 games if he isn't ready. Then what? At that point we are hoping for them to lose out to get the #1 pick for whatever the next best QB is.
All the while it is most likely Rodgers playing for a team looking towards the playoffs and hoping for a playoff run.

My whole point is don't let personal off field issues, affect what happens onfield. On the field is what matters. I have no clue if Love will be ready. It took Rodgers 3 full years of sitting, before he started. Perhaps Love needs one more year of sitting to take over.

Personally I think other factors will mean that this is Rodgers’ last year, at least with a worthwhile supporting cast (and therefore likely his last in reality). For that reason, I’m focused on this one. That seems a healthier way to proceed for all concerned.

If I were Rodgers, I would get the jab in the first day of the bye, learning from my adventures. Whether he will none of us have any day in, do no point in worrying about it. Let’s just get healthy and talk football. There is enough craziness going on in the world that infecting havens such as this is frustrating, however deeply held non football views are.

It's not 12s play so much that has me wanting to move on after these playoffs, it's that he has not been held accountable for his actions and won't submit to a normal hierarchy of authority in an organization that he WORKS in. That's untenable long term. Throw in that he is old for a QB and his play will decline at some point, soon... yeah. I'm done after this year. 5-5 or 3-7 be damned. It is time.

I’d suggest it’s more about scheme this year than players, I didn’t like the Barry hire but he’s proving me wrong, he’s also doing it with lots of backups and not his stars. There definitely is a way forward, the people that keep bringing up this salary cap issue tend to be people that just want Rodgers out. Just cutting Z smith next year saves 28 mil. Restructuring and committing to Rodgers likely gets us close to we’re we need to be. Every year players are lost, but good to great D with Rodgers on the other side could be unstoppable. Does that mean we sign D Campbell for 8 million and not resign Davante for 28? Possibly. Always hard decisions in the off season.

Well there is the scary fact, that is not, obviously, come to your mind. Packers are 50 mill over the cap for 2022. They can restructure if some players accepts that, but that means you stole any chance from Jordan Love. The team will be completelly new in 2023 in that case with cheap players like Yiadom, and lot of rookies drafted late in every round of the 2023 draft (so, almost w/o 1st rounder).

Than, you'll surely get decade of doom for Packers. They will need to do complete makeover and that lasts very long...

Plus, you'll got nothing for Aaron Rodgers. Also, there is possibility for him to get post covid influence on many important organs, what many antivaxers, like AR does not take in the count.

Well, those are the facts. Feel free to give me down vote. I would like that from you!

"Just cutting Z smith next year saves 28 mil. Restructuring and committing to Rodgers likely gets us close to we’re we need to be."

Cutting Z Smith only saves us about $16 million because there's over $12 million in dead cap if we cut Z Smith.

IF the Packers were to extend Rodgers he would HAVE to take a lot LESS money. There's just too many good YOUNG players who need to be extended to give Rodgers a $40 million plus a year contract.

IF Rodgers is smart and I think he is he has MORE that enough money to be quite comfortable the rest of his life so maybe money isn't the #1 thing. Maybe having a seat at the table, including him in CONVERSATIONS about FA is all he wants. Then again, maybe the endorsements won't be what they were and it's all about money.

SO...Lets just enjoy 2021 because if we get Z back, Alexander back, Meyers back, Gary back playing at the near same level, and don't suffer a injury to another starter moving forward, THE PACKERS ARE WINNING THE SB THIS YEAR!!!!!

No, they won't. Because of the salary cap. It's either 12, 17, 77, 18, 55, and 91 will not be Packers next year. Or... no fitting Jaire and Gary and Amos. And probably a few more players.

My short assessment says that without Rodgers and Adams, we’re pretty close to $0 . Some guys can’t realistically be released ( Bakhtiari and others) but they might be tradeable.

Several times I’ve seen this presented as “Rodgers or Love”, but failing to include what we’d get in trade and salary cap relief. That’s dishonest, IMO.

All that matters is the product on the field. Don't over complicate it.

Currently Love isn't ready. He showed that he wasn't ready. Will he be ready next year? I have no idea. Will he be ready in the future? I have no idea. But until he is ready, we shouldn't be ready to move onto him. Its not good for him nor the Packers to turn to him when he isn't ready.

How he will be ready if he sits on the sideline. Yes, Aaron Rodgers sat 3 years and than he produce 6-10 season - proof that he was not ready as Packers wanted. But that season helped him to develop into the what he is now. And do not forget that the Favre drama (about retiring) was playing 3 years in the row, so it was possibility that Packer would start AR earlier. Also, Cap situation was much better than it is today.

Regarding Jordan Love rediness, I think he play much better vs Saints than Aaron Rodger. Yes it was garbage time, but still. Against Seattle, I would say Aaron did not played much better than Jordan Love vs Chiefs, just MLF used more of AJ and A.J. And Seattle did not blitzing much, but we saw a lot of off throws from Aaron Rodgers, despite there was not much pressure, like Jordan Love had.

So, it is tricky for many of us to judje Jordan Love in the small sample size. We are not scouts, nor coaches...

Some Fans are Not, thankfully, all of the Fans. Rodgers tried to move into granola land for an excuse, but a lot of people gave up crystals when the fear of radiation poisoning was bouncing along in the Alternative Universe. He's their best bet to move the show into the Big Game. Za and Jaire, playoff time at the earliest.

I am loving this "D", and it's about time! Seeing a couple capable ILBs is a thing of beauty and I've been screaming for years about TT and Gutey ignoring the position, let's hope that we can find a way to keep them both in the fold.
Tackling, wow, what a huge step forward! I don't know (or care) who's teaching this but hell yes it's improved, we've even seen a couple real 'shots' from Kevin King which I'd have thought from past years was something we'd never see. Pin a medal on whoever's doing the teaching.

Houndog, totally agree on TT. I remember thinking, when TT was GM, and the packers had such a solid team, why doesn't TT bring a few FA's to get us over the hump. Sure GB won a lot of games, but I firmly believe that a lot of Rodger's career was wasted because he would not provide the necessary help to get us over the hump. I am a proponent of building through the draft but when you get to a certain point, you need to bring in a few people to win it all and I believe this could have been done..........multiple times. Certainly see why Rodgers was a bit fed up with not getting the players but I believe it took him longer than it should have to sound off.......probably should have sounded off 6 years earlier or so.

Love that we pounded the ball when we got near the goal line. Not just a token run to set up a couple of sideline throws, but actual move the pile style of runs. We need defenses to change their mindset against this offense.

While Rodgers was less than stellar on Sunday, his WR were not getting much separation. This going to be a problem as we get to playoffs. Glad that we are working the screens because not much happening down field.

Great win. Just love an honest defense, makes the game enjoyable to watch on both sides of the ball. Don't talk to me about special teams

Dillon--love me some power football, and looking forward to what he can do, but you're absolutely right: Dillon's not a back that you want running laterally very much. This is a run game that's going to funnel through the A and B gaps until Jones returns. Pressure will be on LaF to find creative looks that build off that and make opposing defenses pay for stacking the box or run-blitzing those gaps.

Wilson--was never really a huge fan when he was a Badger. Perfectly happy to not give him the time of day as a Seahawk. To be honest, he gave the defense several opportunities to lay the wood on him on scrambles and it seemed the defense let them pass--I was itching for someone to light him up. Some guys never seem to take a hard hit: Wilson is one of them.

Tackling--ball carriers are easier to tackle when they aren't getting a free run at their gaps. This defense has done a nice job of making ball carriers work for yardage. Gary and Smith have done a nice job on the edges, too. I think the Vikes will target Garvin on Sunday until he shows he can handle it. We'll see whether Garvin can hold the edge AND still get pressure on passing downs. Gary's shoes won't be easy to fill.

If Smith or Gary go down. This Defense will change. And not for the better. You want change at Qb! Then why should it matter what Rodger's says or does. The Bomb Fire is high enough. If the offense is that good. It won't matter how many times they run a play. I have a feeling its; "How their testing the OL" before Bahk comes back. I was looking for more then the OBJ rumors from Gute, The rumors were a TE or RB. And he still looks away on whats going on with this DL. Smart Play- Selling stock before Rodger's leaves.

This style of offense requires a good, balanced OL, a strong RB, and big bodied WRs who are capable of both route running and being willing blockers to be successful.

What it does not require to be successful is a HoF QB at the helm.

Anyone who said you don't need talent is silly. You just need talent in places where it's easier to find talent.

Sorry Russ -
I love what Russel Wilson did for the Badgers when he came to Wisconsin. As a Badgers fan I will always love what he did here for that year. NFL Russel, is one of my most disliked players. He is definitely an odd fella.
As far as Carrol goes. I don't give a crap if the refs gave the Packers 5 TD's in the game. It does not make up for the Fail Mary game. Carrol has absolutely nothing to bitch about with officials in a Packers/Seattle game. Ohh and the plays he bitched about were called right.

It's Fundamental -
I mentioned yesterday that the tackling was a big reason for the defense to be improved. The addition of Campbell has really helped. The DB's have been very good with tackling as well. They simply have not been allowing big plays from broken tackles. I agree about Barry being a teacher. I do think its possibly more about scheme as well. For example, Dean Lowry. He looks like a completely different player. He is in the backfield a lot more. I do believe some of it is the style of defense they are playing. But Lowry looks better then he has in previous years. The ILB position has been flying around. The scheme seems to allow players to to play in front of them more. Allows them to be more aggressive and attack. That to me is the biggest difference from previous years.

High Hopes -
Nothing wrong with hoping to see that. Last year was the first time they have had one in a while. And of course it happens when the year is messed up. Hopefully this year you will get your chance!

Testy, Testy -
I'm not going to get into the vaccination status of players. They made the decision they made so no point of non stop ridicule over it. I just know that anyone can miss at any time. Could it be possible that he would miss that game. Sure. It is also possible for him to suffer a season ending injury in the NFC championship game or after. Anything can happen to anyone. No point in playing out every hypothetical scenarios.

Not Seeing Red -
The last few games the redzone defense had been picking it up. But keeping the opposing offense out of there definitely is a way to keep them from scoring in the redzone.

Too Obvious -
I also thought it was pretty obvious what they were going to do. I would like to see a little more motion in those situations. Disguise what they are going to do.

Not the 10 Yard Line -
Every time we get there I think, Great, we have room to give Adams room to work. Room for Rodgers to work. Then it seems it never works.

Tackling, like special teams, has been a problem for the Packers for years. Putting poor tackling on Pettine's inability to teach simply doesn't make sense to me. However, you are absolutely correct about Dillon getting the ball out of the shotgun. Then again, last week it was Love standing in an empty backfield, waiting for the snap, when KC was blitzing every down. This is poor play calling. This is on the coach. And this is something no one wants to talk about. That although LaFleur has a great record, and although he can be creative, he also comes up with game plans that make you go, "HUH?" on a regular basis. And then doesn't adjust the calls when they don't work. When it's all on the line during the playoffs, hopefully we'll be going, "WOW!" And it won't be necessary for MLF to have a post game presser, where he "couldn't be prouder of this team", but they fell short because of him.

I remember a story about Barry when he showed a tackle form in the meeting room and actually fell to the floor doing it. It’s was funny but it also showed how dedicated he is to it. It has been showing up on the field. He lets linebackers be linebackers and the team has the players to execute it. Also I must give kudos to Jerry Grey for getting his players to play well on the backend. I believe that he is DC material and we are lucky to have him.

Tackling: It's about time....But an even better approach would be to make sure they're good tacklers before you draft them or sign them from elsewhere--like Amos, Campbell, and Douglas.

Too Obvious: Those running plays are annoyingly predictable, but maybe they'll work a little better when our OL becomes "unshuffled" and everybody returns to their normal spot. I think our offense is also struggling due to limited TE options and a lack of a shifty X factor-type of player in the red zone.

Hold the phone….

According to the advanced stats at pro-football-reference, we’re averaging about 5 missed tackles a game, down from almost 7 last year. So that’s an improvement, but it’s a small improvement on kind of a subjective measure, and I’m not sure Barry is the catalyst.

We are doing a much better job on RAC. We’re in a league where 67% of passes are completed, but if you can stop the receivers at the point of catch, instead of giving up a long run, that makes a difference . We’ve done a much better job of that, and I do give Barry credit for that.

Getting the ball in from the 10-yard line is a problem for a number of reasons. Hard to run in from there, you usually have to make at least one or two throws.

Tonyan being out takes away what last year was a major end zone target. There are none left now except Adams and the other team knows it. They double him and he doesn't have the room to maneuver as he does at midfield. Add in that Lazard, MVS, and to a lesser extent Cobb, are bad at getting open in small space and Rodgers has no one to throw to. Rodgers doesn't have a legit #2 receiver or a TE threat and that's why the Red Zone has been a dead zone this year.

I'm really hoping that before the playoffs one or more of our practice squad receivers is given the opportunity to prove himself. Really tired of MVS and Lazard and their combined 3 catches a week.

I'm not so confident Big Government and Big Pharma have been handling the opiate crisis all that well. I'm not so confident they're handling the COVID crisis all that well.
I'm not so confident that mainstream medicine has handled either crisis all that well.
Then there's the mainstream media, which seems to print more lies than truths; to choose experts based not on biology, but ideology; and to manipulate statistics to say whatever they want.
It's very difficult to know what to think these days about many issues, including COVID. May we seek to persuade rather than coerce.
***
I'd truly rather have Aaron Rodgers take care of his own health for his whole life as he deems best, even if he were to miss the Super Bowl. I value our Packers as persons more than as just players.
By the way, where's the science of testing him in 90 days, versus 60 days, or 100 days? Is it really possible to know with such precision? Just who among all the scientists and doctors in the world gets to make that call?
Also, doesn't the vaccinated Davante Adams have as much of a risk of getting COVID right before the Super Bowl as Aaron Rodgers? Do we even know all that much about the shots less than one year from their introduction to the public?
