Packers Question of the day - Sharpe? Freeman? Hutson?

Which all-time great Packers wide receiver would you bring back now to help bolster the offense?

I got your votes for tight end, but which wideout would take this offensive unit to an unforeseen level? Would you choose Sterling Sharpe? Antonio Freeman? Even a Don Hutson from decades and decades ago?

Sterling Sharpe would be awesome.

A player under the radar that would be great with this current team. Javon Walker in his prime...

Having a WR with his height and speed an playmaking ability would be huge for our offense.

James Lofton. Great hands, long stride, and Clutch. Hutson would be up there too. Of course never saw him play, but guy dominated some great Halas Bear teams so he had the toughness smarts and speed that I believe would match up today. Don't know how much of a beating he could absorb in todays game so I'm going with James. Sterling would be nice complement but not deep threat Lofton was.

Lofton all day long. We need a deep threat. [Hutson as well, though he is more difficult to project, and of course I never saw him.]

To clarify: Since there was a little confusion on Twitter, you're not inclined to pick only between the three aforementioned options. You're free to choose any receiver to ever suit up in green and gold. From James Lofton to Ruvell Martin. It's wide open.

The best 81 there ever was. I'll always wonder what could've been with Terrence Murphy...

Oh definitely...

The 2 players I really wonder what would have been Murphy and Jonathan Franklin.

Especially now with Franklin. How different our offense would be with him.

Whoever you all pick, I hope he has a background in sales, since our offense can't sell a scratch pad to house full of cats much less any deception to an opponents defense. : )

Hutson was probably the Packers best all time receiver but I never saw him play. I would go with James Lofton and\or Sterling Sharpe because not only were they great receivers but they both had an element of physical toughness that is missing from this team right now. And both knew how to create separation. If I can only choose one, I go with Lofton. Thanks, Since '61

Lofton would be a help. I'm actually thinking Brooks in his prime or the high season from Walker. Either way it needs to be someone who can beat press-man and threatens the top of the D too. That's why I think Brooks of 95 vintage might be the guy.

No question...Hutson or Lofton. Since I never saw Hutson play, would move to the Lofton camp. Met him once in Santa Rosa, Ca. about 6 years ago. Fairly tall, maybe 6-2 but still rather thin. What a great pass catcher!

The only one I never saw play live was Hutson. The others mentioned are great but Hutson man what a receiver he was from all accounts.

Based on eye witness accounts, stats which were off the charts, Hutson! Loved Lofton tho!

James Lofton... Could you imagine James Lofton with the PI Rules of today and the Aaron Rodgers of 2014? I bring up the 2014 version because the 2015, 2016 version of Rodgers can't throw deep anymore with ANY regularity.

Sharpe is a close 2nd. I believe he belongs in the HOF. What he was able to accomplish in 7 years was amazing. The Packers also win that 2nd SB against Denver if Sharpe played and probably one or two more.

Just for my curiosity, I'd love to see if AR could turn Bill Schroeder into a 1,000 yard gainer like Favre did. But to win, I'd want Lofton, then Sharpe.

LOFTON. If you are too young to have watched James Lofton, you probably don't realize how talented he was. He was tall, strong, fast, smart, and had great hands, plus he was a terrific blocker. He was one of the best deep threats in modern football history, and a great teammate. Hudson can't really be compared, due to the differences in the game, but Lofton would still be one of the best in the league TODAY. If I could add a second, it would be Sharpe. I don't know why people are saying he wasn't a deep threat; he was a GREAT deep threat who made many laterally leaping catches 40 yards downfield.

How bout going with Lofton, Driver, Sharpe and Hutson. I would go with Dickey as my trigger man. Awesome deep gun.
