Packers Sign Devonte Wyatt to Three-Year Extension
Wyatt should enter 2026 healthy and positioned to play a major role in Jonathan Gannon's defense.

The Green Bay Packers have secured another key piece of their core roster, agreeing to a three-year, $57 million contract extension with defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt. The deal includes a hefty $20 million signing bonus and keeps one of the defense's most disruptive interior players in Green Bay for the foreseeable future.
Wyatt has flashed game-changing ability throughout his career, combining rare first-step explosiveness with the power to collapse the pocket from the interior. Looks like a fair contract to both parties.
I do like the current DL now that he is signed, we got McClellan and Hargrave plus the hold overs.
I would like to see these linemen play along Parsons & Company for much of the season.
Should be a fun year!

Per Ian Rappoport. This is not unexpected. Wyatt had a $12.938M deal for 2026, all fully guaranteed. The extension probably reduces his cap number from $12.98M to $6.5M or so, less it there is a void year. [That makes plenty of room for a Kraft extension.] The $20M signing bonus is a little high for $57M but he already had ~$13M fully guaranteed, so now that amount grows to $20M. 3/$57M is $19M AAV. I look at it as 4 years, $70M (actually, $69.938M or $17.48M AAV).
I predicted $16.5M AAV, so $19M does indeed strike me as a little high for Wyatt. There have been comparisons to Franklin-Myers who just signed for $21M but he has been a more durable and simply a better player. It may be that Rappoport got the "up to" number. Be that as it may be, I don't hate it. I fully believe the Packers are operating in short term mode; that is, win now or the next 2 or possibly 3 seasons. [I am looking at Love's $75M cap number in 2028 and Micah's $73M cap number in 2029. The Packers could finesse those numbers if they are getting deep into the playoffs, but otherwise 2026 and 2027 seem to be windows.] I am betting that there is no void year. The figure to look at when the details are available is the 2-year numbers. I am guessing Wyatt gets $32M cumulative in 2026 and 2027 (i.e., 2yrs/$32-34M) with $8M dead left if the Packers decide to move on.
I don't think it was necessary to sign Wyatt. There will be other DTs available in free agency next year, but I grant that finding DTs with some pass rushing juice is harder, so I am okay with nailing Wyatt down. They saw him this summer even though not in pads or on the field so I assume he looked pretty healthy, at least on track. A bit of a chance being taken, I suppose. PFF still hates Wyatt but PFF is far from gospel. Wyatt had his best season as a run defender in 2025. He does need to come back strong and stay healthy for this deal to work out for the team.
