Aaron and the gang turned the heat on too little too late. Tired of this bullcrap. Run D crapped the bed today. Pathetic, truly pathetic. The way we lose is just so typical, same story every time.

October 16, 2016 at 06:47 pm
Run D? You mean the guys who where left trying to put out the dumpster fire of 4 turnovers by Rodgers and Company.
Chad the white Scandinavian
October 16, 2016 at 07:25 pm
That makes absolutely 100% no difference. The had a job and for 3 quarters the Cowboys ran when and where they pleased. I'm not happy with the Off performance, but the D was supposed to keep us in the game.
RCPackerFan
October 16, 2016 at 07:46 pm
The defense kept them in the game. They gave up 20 points through the first 3 quarters. The only big time fail was at the end of the first half.
This loss is on the offense.

Did you see those giant runs by Ezekiel Elliot or were you watching a different game? Offense sucked, but so did D. Undeniable.
RCPackerFan
October 16, 2016 at 10:57 pm
Yeah I did. I also saw the defense intercept a pass after Rodgers fumbles the ball with first and goal. Giving the offense hope, which they did nothing with. I also saw another time that the defense forced another turnover. I also saw the offense turn the ball over 4 times.
The defense wasn't great, but they kept them in the game. This loss is on the offense.

Agreed, it was up and down for the defense today. The run D was a problem, but they got two turnovers immediately after the offense had a terrible turnover - after Jordy's fumble, and after AR's fumble. Sad to say, this game could have been much worse with the way the offense was going.
RCPackerFan
October 17, 2016 at 07:46 am
The defense kept them in the game. Hell even after giving up the TD at the end of the half they still kept them in the game. the first drive of the 3rd quarter Rodgers threw an interception. The defense held them to a FG. Keeping it a 2 TD game.

October 17, 2016 at 10:48 am
I agree with Jeremy JBrown, realistically speaking you aren't going to win many games when you turn the ball over 4 times,AR's fumble inside the 5 really hurt

This was a pretty ugly loss. Aaron Rodgers cost us this game. When he missed a wide open Cobb in the end zone I was pretty sure that we were done. There was no excuse for the pick that he threw on the opening second half drive. Even if not picked that was another throw behind the receiver. Yet once we were down 27-9 he made some perfect throws on the Packers only TD drive. Where was that Rodgers for the rest of the game? Our OL, Lacy and Monty played great. Rodgers received great protection again from the OL but just did not execute except for the one TD drive. Something is wrong and I doubt that we will get it figured out by Thursday. We may still beat the Bears but that won't prove anything. First, we need to be able to field a team with all the injuries that we have. Tough day for the Pack. Thanks, Since '61

Yes you did, but you actually posted that our offense isn't very good. Actually our OL, Lacy and Monty played hard and were very good. I can't put this on anyone but A. Rodgers. The rest of the offense played hard and deserved a better fate. Can't even put much on the defense down 3CBs, although CM3 and Perry did not show up today. For Perry that's the first time this season. Thursday evening will get here quickly. Thanks, Since '61

Time for a coaching change at end of season. That is not a panic move. The game plans are not working and I think some of the players have lost faith in McCarthy. I don't think a complete rebuild, something has to happen. Rodgers has way too much talent. Do the Packers bench Rodgers or release McMuffin,

it is not that he cannot make the hard throws he routinely used to make. he cannot make the easy throws. how many of the completions to day were picked off the ground by the receiver? he needs to see a shrink. well crosby was a head case for a year and now every field goal is right down the center. maybe AR will get it back. maybe.

I have been with you since you made the comments about Arod passing up first downs looking down-field. Seems we need to walk before we run again. And if people will remember, I had a number of negative comments after I suggested Rodgers was not right earlier in the year. Still love him, just sayin.
Could not agree more on Jackson comment & Red Zone backfield formation. We tried the TE over the middle once...Rodgers should have had it and Arod should have thrown the ball better, but need to keep LBs & safeties, honest with more than one pass.

- Mike McCarthy should be canned. Should have been after last year. MM gave Dallas a TD at the end of the half. What an idiot.
- Way to not activate another RB - Don Jackson. That cost GB two fumbles. What an idiot. .
- Nice five wide QB run call. What an idiot. Horrible call.
- Thanks for letting House and Howard go, TT. Goodson was awesome. So was Gunter. Way to go TT. Nice work.
- Aaron Rodgers is the most overrated player in the NFL. Period. No doubt. Pull your fucking head out of your ass #12 and realize you are one of the WORST QBs in the entire NFL right now. The WORST!!!!
- Speaking of Aaron Rodgers, you made Dak Prescott look like Joe Montana.
- Speaking of HOF's, our defense make Elliot look like Emmit Smith.
- Jordy Nelson is slow. He is also nothing like he used to be.
- This is an 8-8 team. At best.

October 16, 2016 at 06:58 pm
Totally agree IF. 100% of coaches would call timeouts with over 2:00 in the half and the other team with the ball on their own 3. 100%!! End of first half wasn't a strategy failure it was an execution failure.

October 16, 2016 at 07:03 pm
No problem with what he did there at all. Odds of the defense letting Dallas go 97 yds for a TD were astronomical. You look at it as best case, you stop them and get the ball back. Worst case, they get a first down and run the clock out. Don't think I've ever seen something like that before...
NickPerry
October 16, 2016 at 07:12 pm
I don't know Al. Whenever McCarthy does that he ends up shooting his team in the foot. You're right, what are the odds going 97 yards? Against THIS Football team pretty damn good it seems.

Apparently MM hasn't noticed how bad his offense has been playing the last 16 games and up to that point had only managed 2 field goals yet he still believed they were going to get the ball and score what more than likely would have been at best a field goal, still a bad decision imo, just let the clock run out go to the locker room and regroup

Too extreme --- Although you've made some obvious points, this is still just one game against a pretty good team. --- GB will be 4-2 after Thursday night and this game will be complete history. --- Unfortunately, the Pack have to actually play against some pretty good teams the rest of the way. -- It may not be pretty by January.

Hey ted lets get some more receiving weapons and cut the run game to two guys, let some promissing guys go.

I lost faith in TT after he didn't bring Jackson up from the PS,being so thin at CB could be one reason for keeping Goodson but they were terribly thin at RB and made Lacy gut it out on a bad ankle, prior to this game Lacy was averaging only 13 carries a game when healthy yet when hurt they gave him very little help and Goodson didn't do anything but commit a penalty

Rodgers right now is reminding me slightly of Favre in 2005. When they made the change to MM from Sherman, it seemed to jump-start Favre again. I am a MM fan, but I think even good coaches have a shelf life in a single organization (except maybe Belichick).
Bearmeat
October 16, 2016 at 09:25 pm
And the only reason that BB doesn't have a shelf life is because he is absolutely BRUTAL to anyone not named Tom Brady. NO ONE in that organization is safe from being cut/traded. NO ONE.
BB is a bastard. But he's a ruthless and intelligent one. MM is not as smart, nor ruthless as BB. He's also a nicer guy.
I'd rather drink with MM. I'd rather watch BB coach.

31 other quarterbacks would love to have and would thrive with that level of pass protection and a running game averaging damn near 6 yards per carry. #12 is garbage. I take back a lot of the past criticism of Mashed Potato Mike cause this all on Rodgers. No matter what way you try to spin it this down fall on offense is clearly on the shoulders of the quarterback being terrible at reading defenses, being afraid to pull the trigger, no ball security, and lack of accuracy. Something has to change.... It maybe the scenery for someone, and I'm not thinking McCarthy for once....

This was truly the game that convinced me, this team isn't close to an elite team anymore. It's a team that can beat the Jacksonville's of the NFL but they won't beat the "Better Teams". Rodgers was soundly outplayed by a Rookie QB. He's developed some horrible habits that I don't think can be corrected without wholesale changes.
McCarthy FINALLY used Montgomery and look what happened? How much you wanna bet we don't see that the rest of the year. This team is SLOW as hell at the skill positions and the RB position is a joke! I love Lacy but what GM in his right mind would have 2 RB's on his roster?
This IS the Packers. This IS Aaron Rodgers, and this WILL continue to be this way until McCarthy and his coaching staff are shown the door. While your at it ask Ted to step down voluntarily and hire Wolf before someone else does.
17 games of this, 17. Rodgers has went from a player who never turned over the ball to a TO machine. I just hope a new coaching staff can resurrect his career before it's too late. You have "McCarthy Way" (Or whatever the name of his street is) now it's time to hit it Mike.

Just poor ass play by Rodgers and the sets they used. Not to mention the sets used on defense. This game should have been a Cowboys blow out. Too early for the on side kick. I feel so blessed. I followed the same progression of the game as you but when I checked out in the forth I was lucky enough to play all time QB as my 7 year old daughter snapped me the ball and my 8 and 11 year old son's played one on one on the outside! The quarterback play was way better in the yard than at Lambeau. Very blessed to have had some awesome football memories from today!

That is a healthy attitude, Duke and Drealyn. It is the one I had in the 1970s and 1980s. Football was an event that was the excuse to spend time watching a game with my Dad, brother, and/or buddies. I watched for 3 hours, maybe read stories in the papers, but really didn't think about the Packers otherwise except on game day. Many a time in the 70's my brother and I would go out at half time and throw a football around.
It is why I viewed GB's situation with such urgency and was against the "consistent success with multiple playoff appearances will lead to super bowls." I couldn't say that isn't a viable method; heck, it still might work. But I viewed 2011 to 2014 as a time when the iron was hot. Maybe the FO can get it going again.

Not saying it's an excuse for the loss. But playing without your top 3 CBs definitely didn't help the defense.
Also playing with 1 true RB who wasn't healthy, affected what they could do on the offense. If Lacy was fully healthy I think they could have rode him a lot more. They had room to run, just no RBs to run it.

This week wasn't on anybody's shoulders who actually played. Ted deserves this L. Many reasons why
1. Not promoting or signing a 2nd running back
2. Not picking up a tight end who has any sort of speed.
3. Keeping abbrederis around when McCarthy obviously isn't going to use him
4. Keeping Goodson around instead of signing anyone else.
5. Not looking into another offensive coordinator. McCarthy's play calling has become bland and predictable. The pack needs someone who can call plays. Bennet as much as I love him hasn't done anything noteworthy as an offensive coordinator.
But I'm forever an optimist and we are 3-2 with a home game against the Bears. That should be a cure all. But who knows.

I take issue with your #2. TE Jared Cook can run like a deer! He's just hurt like everyone else on this roster. Do you think GB should initiate a preemptive mandatory bionic joint program? Lol. Hips, knees, and ankles for every player on the roster!:P

TT needs to retire. The old ways just aren't working. Youth has it's advantages. Their not bull headed. When a manager cannot win with their product, it's time to step down. I would make TT a consultant for scouting. He likes that, and can stay in the graces of many a fans. He will only go down with the ship now. This team made some bad moves. Kuhn, Sitton, and Mathsay gone. With no apparent conscience.

To be fair we really aren't missing Kuhn or Sitton. And schum arguably had a better day than Rodgers today. His one punt was actually pretty good. Not defending TT but those 3 aren't really bad mistakes he's made. MLB is still a ? And his biggest oversight in my opinion. As well as the lack of team speed on offense.

October 16, 2016 at 08:30 pm
I would have agreed on Sitton until today. Thought our offensive line was not as good as Dallas. And Kuhn just is much better than Rip. I would have cut Rip today. Schum was very lucky today. The biggest problem I'm seeing is all these guys are amazed their let go. Shouldn't they be called into the office and told their not performing? They just don't have a clue. Which brings it to TTs conscience.

Dallas has the best oline in the league, so not being as good as them isn't necessarily a condemnation of our oline. I actually came away from the game impressed with our oline and thinking that they were almost as good as Dallas's. Rodgers had all day to throw and they opened up some holes for Lacy. Ours gave up one sack on 42 dropbacks; theirs gave up 2 on 27. The biggest difference to me was that Elliot is much better than a hobbled Lacy (or even a healthy Lacy really). After five games, I have zero issue with how Taylor has played in place of Sitton.
stockholder
October 17, 2016 at 04:51 pm
I don't agree that Rodgers had all day. The problem is A-Rod! He had several plays longer than normal, but that did not last. I agree on Elliot over Lacy. But I still have a few issues about Taylor. Several times he missed, and was on the ground. And when you consider how banged up this line was last year. It still does not sit well with me on Sitton's release. Taylor is going to get better, but I still saw this Zone Blocking scheme, not do what its design to do. Sitton's release was a big gamble when you consider Trotter and Taylor had to work together. And I think MM has the right coach in place to keep it working. But what happens if TT replaces MM. There goes the offensive line and coach. I believe if MM would be more like TT people would be happier. But is MM allowed to do that? Thats the biggest question. (Because how else can you explain Drop Adams.) Or Sitton not having a clue on why he was released. I think MM can only draw up the game plan. If MM goes so will the zone blocking. Green Bay is not paradise when you have to kiss TTs Ass.

Not to be overly negative but the crap line that we get from the team about "not panicking" or how the public "doesn't understand the problems with the offense" is null.
Something is off with Aaron Rodgers. Not physically, but mentally. It's been going on since last season and either Aaron or the coaching staff needs to figure it out.

Al, I also agree with a few other points:
I thought the Pack's best chance was to jump on the Cowboys early and force them out of their run-dominated offense.
The 5 WR set looked very disorganized. If somebody watches the game again, I know I saw at least 2 if not 3 WRs over the middle short, in the same vicinity, when throwing the ball to Cobb that was tipped.
Our ILBs did not show up when needed earlier in the game. Exception, Joe Thomas continues to perform in his specialty role.
Have to try to find some good: Arod and MM finally found Montgomery, who responded nicely. Eddie tough...just tuff! Mason solid.

Man, this one hurts in so many ways. It hurts that I've lost trust and confidence in McCarthy and Rodgers. It hurts that we have lost both CBs to injuries. It hurts that Lacy had to play on one leg. It hurts that a rookie QB came into our house and pushed us around. But what hurts the most is witnessing the deterioration of Rodgers. We all used to worry about the defense, but what about him? Who will criticize him? Will he listen?
I hate to say this, but I'm glad they lost. They deserved to lose. They've been limping by subpar teams like the Jags, Lions and Giants. Had they won, McCarthy wouldn't see a reason to make any changes.
Maybe this fires them up. Maybe it won't....but what I do know is this was the most embarrassing home loss in recent memory. Dallas is good, but without Romo and Bryant, they are certainly beatable.
Bob McGinn summed up Rodgers' struggles best:
"As far as planting his back foot from shotgun or a straight dropback, striding into the throw and taking a hit, it almost never happens. Just as Brett Favre fell into poor throwing mechanics later on during the Mike Sherman years, Rodgers is following suit."
"You see a lot of all-arm throws, skipping into throws, firing off balance and across his body. He sails one pass, bounces another. At times, his feet don’t work in unison with his torso. His deep-ball accuracy, once extraordinary, has improved somewhat from a year ago when it was embarrassingly bad for a player of his stature."
"One NFC personnel man has said several times that the Packers’ receivers don’t run routes in the classic sense of the word. The talent at wide receiver is more than adequate, according to several scouts, but McCarthy’s staple remains isolation routes instead of using bunches, rubs and other creative devices to give receivers easier releases into the secondary."

I've always been overly optimistic on the potential of the packers. The past year and a half has really made it hard to be optimistic at all. Trying to pin point the exact cause of this is probably an impossible task. Although 1 key difference between 2009-2014 and 2015-2016 is nobody is having any fun. The team from 2009-2014 was always smiling, laughing and competing. They might not have always won but they had a good time playing together. And we all had fun watching them. Fast forward to today nobody is enjoying this garbage that we see week in and week out. If this continues one of two things needs to happen at the end of the season.
1) Mike McCarthy needs to hire a real OC with fresh ideas.
Or 2) Mike McCarthy needs to be replaced

Rodgers is officially a bad QB right now. Bad. Like worse than Brian Hoyer. Missing throws. Throwing stupid picks. WTF. Missing wide open WRs. Even when he makes a throw he leads the WR into a massive hit.
I have zero confidence in this team. How many yards will Hoyer throw for next week? 400? I guarantee he'll throw for more than Rodgers.

This was a perfect storm of problems. Depleted by injury, under performing position players, missed open players, dropped catchable passes. If it were one thing, it wouldn't look so bad but it's a lot of stuff that isn't working. Not having 2 RB's was kinda dumb too. But we are missing top 3 DB's, our fastest TE, both RB's out or playing injured.
That locker room needs to call a player only meeting and get some stuff worked out otherwise, I expect very little incentive for the Packers to re-sign too many of our FA's next year.
This very well may signal the Packers downturn after so many years of success. Perhaps we are beginning our free fall into mediocrity and mid to early round draft picks. I expect Edgar to be hitting the road soon if things don't turn around and soon.
But let's remember, we started good last year and a dumped after our 6-0 start. Who knows, maybe after a cruddy first 6 games this year, we go gonzo the last 10 games. (even if not probable, it IS possible)

No positives whatsoever to take from this game, the only hope here is that GB has bottomed out and has no where to go but up but even a win against Chicago Thursday night will not change the fact that the offense is pedestrian at best, the defense was a mirage and was shredded by a far superior Dallas offense, despite a couple good games I knew Gunter wouldn't hold up,he looked like a high school boy out there, the D got zero pressure on pass plays and got there lunch handed to them in the run game. I can no longer believe this offense is going to turn a switch on at any point this season,it Is what it is... awful and the reason starts with Aaron Rodgers. The coaching today also hit an all time low. Dallas at their own 3 yard line with a little over a minute left in the half with no time outs? No problem says MM, I'll call em for you! Result,Dallas uses MM time outs to march down the field and score a TD before the half! At that point I imagine even his players were wondering who's side is he on? It's hard enough to win games against better teams without your own coach working against you by making idiotic decisions like that! We all know players have bad games and the secondary is banged up and is missing starters but in the case of Gunter how bad does he have to be before the coaches make a change? You would think they would at least give Hawkins a try,I don't see how that could have been any worse. We could spend hours picking this game apart but like I said in a post days before, this game will be a statement or a reality check and afterwards to sum it all up,the offense is broken beyond repair this year, the defense was terribly exposed and nothing will change until this stale regime is gone. I am looking forward to the retirement of TT and the Elliot Wolf era to begin the current GM and coaching staff has gone flat and is in dire need of change.

Don't agree with your criticism of the 97 yd TD drive. Every coach in the league would expect to either get the ball back to their offense for a FG at least, OR Dallas would run out of time to get into FG range. Instead the most improbable happened, our defense decided to give up a 97 YD TD drive in a few plays!! SMH. That's not on MM.

1) For all of you in the "trade Rodgers" camp - you are the same ones that say we are wasting our future Hall of famers best years. So now that all of you want to dump him.......what's the rush? Hear me out for a second. If all of you want a better team and you think we'll go 6-10, then why so angry? You'll finally get all of your high round picks that you want so badly and you can have Hundley be your QB next year and we won't be "wasting" anyone's years anymore since you all think he's such a bum.
2) For all of you in the "fire TT and MM" camp - aren't these the kind of losses you want? So we can get Wolf in there and have some learning curves and hire some Coach off the market like Pagano or Lovie Smith. Or maybe we'll poach a Belicek tree coach like Josh McDaniels. If you want these guys fired so badly, don't the Packers have to lose a bunch? Aren't you getting what you want when we lose? So why so much anger?
3) For all of you in the, "our defense is unwatchable" camp - find a good D in the NFL that loses all three starting corners and performs. Our run D would have been much better if our safeties weren't having to play corner duty most of the night. But fire Dom anyways right!? Cuz...rebuild right!?
In summary, it will be awesome watching our team under Elliot Wolf with Hundley for QB, an unknown entity at head coach, an unknown entity at defensive coordinator, and any players worth a damn because we will have to have tanked three seasons in a row to get them. But the good news is, Rodgers is a bum, so we're no longer wasting his best years. These next four years will be like the rebuilding of the Panthers. How's that working out for them this year?

I watched the Lions game and there are some comparisons to make. First, the Lions went out and found two new running backs who looked really good in yesterdays game. Two.
The Lions got back to d backs who were hurt and did not play against us. They did a great job on the Rams receivers.
The Lions passing game has improved immensely since they played us. Stafford and his receivers are now working well together.
The Lions have two new pass rushers who are fill ins and they did a great job yesterday recording three sacks between them.
My point, is they went out filled holes, made changes and shored things up that needed fixing instead of saying, gee we need to learn from this and do the same thing the next week.
If we had to play them next week, record another one in the loss column because they are now much better than the pack.

I'm not going to answer any comments on this post, so don't bother to reply.
I lost a few bucks on this game, thinking I could beat the money. Over the years I've tried numerous times to go with the grain & beat the money. It cannot be done.
Vegas knows how to set these lines to get the money to the side they want it. They win each & every week. Look at all the games from yesterday. Most were picked wrong.
Whether you want to accept it or not, GB will not win until the money is the other way. YOU CANNOT BEAT THE BETTING, ON ANY OF THE GAMES. Checkout all the games, & don't bring up NE. People hate that team, & the money is almost always the other way. Enough of that. None of you can see it anyway.
To blame AR for any part of this loss is a joke. He has absolutely NOTHING, 0, NOTHING to work with. Our DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD has to be the laughing stock of the league. Our 10 MILLION DOLLAR receivers in my opinion aren't worth 1/2 of what they are getting. ADAMS is a joke. JAMES JONES could do just as well as any receiver on this team.
AR had a couple of Bad Breaks yesterday, that could have turned that game around. Keep in mind, he's not 26 anymore, he's 32. There is a difference.
If you want to get rid of anyone, I'll give you 3 people to start with. Start with Ted Thompson & whatever he is? Then do what should have been done during almost the entire A.J. HAWK career, GET RID OF CAPERS. He obviously does not know Defensive Backs Very Well, & Finally who ever is in charge of conditioning on this team, should be selling Hot Dogs or Beer in the stands.
AS far as Players go, put Shields, Adams, & if Bulaga don't come back all on a bus heading anywhere out of GB. I know there are a few others as well. They are all useless.
AR gets more than his share of the blame, because of his salary, but not all of it. He has almost nothing to help him.
On a Good Note. This season is a long way from over. Even if GB loses Thursday night. I should have known better than to think I could beat the system. Just Remember what I'm saying, whether you agree or you don't. YOU CAN'T.
I'm not throwing in the towel yet. I also hope I don't have to double up COW.
