Bengals Agree to Terms With 6th Round Dezman Briscoe

Joe Reedy of Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to terms with sixth-round wide receiver Dezman Briscoe.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the 191st overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft likely signed a four-year deal worth $1.892 million dollars, with a signing bonus in the neighborhood of $102,000.

Briscoe started 33 of his 37 games at the University of Kansas, catching 219 passes for 3,240 yards and 31 touchdowns. The 6-2, 207-pound Briscoe earned All-Big 12 honors after his sophomore (second-team) and junior (first-team) seasons before declaring for the 2010 NFL Draft.

Despite his production and red zone threat potential, Briscoe’s draft stock was hurt by questions about his speed and maturity. Briscoe was arrested in 2007 for shoplifting at a local Wal-Mart, and was held of the Jayhawks’ 2009 season opener after an undisclosed team rule.

Briscoe is expected to push Jerome Simpson and Andre Caldwell for a backup role behind starting receivers Chad Ochocinco and Antonio Bryant.\

Briscoe is the first of the Bengals' nine 2010 draft picks to sign or agree to terms.
