Bengals Sign 4th Round DT Geno Atkins

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed fourth-round defensive tackle Geno Atkins.

The Cincinnati Bengals have signed fourth-round defensive tackle Geno Atkins, a league source said.

Atkins' four-year deal is worth $2.262 million dollars, and included a signing bonus just over $472,000.

The first of the Bengals' two picks in the fourth-round of the 2010 NFL Draft, Atkins is a quick, penetrating defensive tackle from the University of Georgia, the 6-1, 293-pound Atkins burst onto the national scene in 2007, totaling 41 tackles, including 15.5 for a loss and 7.5 quarterback sacks, earning first-team All-SEC honors.

Atkins struggled to match that production his final two years for the Bulldogs, though he had 10.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 quarterback sacks last season.

Atkins is expected to be part of the Bengals’ tackle rotation this season.

With the start of training camp just 12 days away, the Bengals now have three members of their nine-member 2010 draft class under contract.
