The Kansas City Chiefs have signed free agent linebacker Mark Simoneau, reports Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star.

Defensive lineman Atiyyah Ellison was released, one week after joining the Chiefs.

A third-round pick (67th overall) out of Kansas State by the Atlanta Falcons in 2000, Simoneau (6-0, 245) has 511 tackles, including 7 quarterback sacks, in a 123-game NFL career with the Falcons (2000-02), Philadelphia Eagles (2003-05), and New Orleans Saints, where Simoneau spent the previous four seasons.

Simoneau missed all of last season with a torn triceps muscle.
