Cowboys Sign LB Brandon Sharpe

The Dallas Cowboys have signed undrafted rookie free agent linebacker Brandon Sharpe, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Sharpe played his college ball at Texas Tech, where he was teammates with Cowboys linebacker Brandon Williams, a fourth-round pick in 2009. Sharpe set the Red Raiders' single-season record for quarterback sacks with 15 in 2009. For the season, harpe had 36 tackles on the season, 20 behind the line of scrimmage, and earned first-team All-Big 12 honors.

Originally signed by the New Orleans Saints after he wasn't selected in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Saints released Sharpe on July 22.

The 6-2, 254-pound Sharpe takes the roster spot that was supposed to go to Jay Moore, who agreed to terms on Friday night, but failed to report to San Antonio.
