Donald Penn Not Expected for Start Of Buccaneers Training Camp

With no talks on a contract extension scheduled, Tampa Bay Buccaneers restricted free agent Donald Penn is not expected to report to training camp on Friday, Rick Stroud of the St. Petersburg Times reports.

Penn has not signed his one-year tender, which originally came with a $3.168 million dollar base salary. Because the tender was not signed before June 15, the Buccaneers reduced the tender to 110% of Penn's 2009 salary, which will cost the former undrafted free agent from Utah State $96,800.

Penn has started 44 consecutive games at left tackle, and in his absence, the Buccaneers will use the inexperienced tandem of Demar Dotson and Xavier Fulton to protect second-year quarterback Josh Freeman's blindside.
