Eagles DT Brodrick Bunkley May Play Through Injury

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said that after seeking a second opinion with Birmingham, AL-based orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley may be able to play through his elbow injury.

"Dr. Andrews said he’s had some guys who had worse injuries and played through them and other guys whose injuries weren’t as bad but couldn’t play through them," Reid said according to Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com. "It’s just different for everybody, so we’ll see. We’ll rehab him and see how it goes. Yesterday, it didn’t look good. But he has a chance to get back out there.

"Right now, the swelling is down, and he’s not in a lot of pain. He won’t practice tomorrow, but beyond that, we’ll just have to see."

Bunkley suffered ligament and nerve damage during the first defensive series in the Eagles' 27-24 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night.

The Eagles are expected to add rookie defensive tackle Jeff Owens off the practice squad at some point this week.
