Eagles Issue Statement on Michael Vick Incident

A shooting occurred at the 30th birthday that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick threw for himself last night in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

According to reports, the mam who was shot, Quanis Phillips, was a co-defendant of Vick's during their 2007 dogfighting trial. The Hampton Roads Daily Press reported that Phillips was shot after allegedly confronting Vick inside the club, and was shot in the leg when the fight moved outside.

Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports that Virginia Beach police have says Vick "is of no interest" to them in their investigation.

Vick claims to have left the party before the shooting occurred. Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, who is in Virginia to help at Vick's football camp, was also at the party, but left with Vick.

"We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don't know what's going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn't have anything to do with it," White said.

The Eagles issued the following statement on Friday:

"We are aware of the incident that occurred in Virginia early this morning and are in the process of gathering all of the facts. Until then, we will not have any contact on this matter."
