Justin Griffith Among 7 Trying Out For Texans
By admin
Veteran fullback Justin Griffith is among seven players who are participating in the Houston Texans' mini-camp this week on a tryout basis, Nick Scurfield of HoustonTexans.com reports.
Griffith, 29, has a lengthy connection with Texans quarterbacks coach Greg Knapp, who was the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator when Griffith entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2003. Griffith followed Knapp to the Oakland Raiders for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, and again last season, when both were with the Seattle Seahawks.
Other players trying out for the Texans are undrafted free agents Kasey Brown (CB, Northwestern State), Preston Powers (LS, Mississippi), and Derrick Townsel (WR, Murray State). 2009 undrafted free agent linebacker William VanDeSteeg, who was released by the Baltimore Ravens last week, and wide receiver Bobby Williams, who spent time last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings are also on hand.
Veteran cornerback Frank Walker rounds out the seven players looking for a training camp invite.
The Texans' mini-camp opened today, and concludes on Wednesday.
