Packers Re-Sign DE Michael Montgomery

Free agent defensive end Micheal Montgomery has re-signed with the Green Bay Packers, reports Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Montgomery replaces linebacker Nick Barnett, who has been placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury that will require season-ending surgery.

A sixth-round pick (180th overall) out of Texas A&M by the Green Bay Packers in 2005, Montgomery appeared in 56 games over the last five seasons for the Packers, totaling 123 tackles and 5 quarterback sacks.

Released by the Packers in March, the 6-5, 282-pound Montgomery totaled 11 tackles for the Minnesota Vikings during the 2010 pre-season, but did not make the team's 53-man roster.
