Packers Sign LS Brett Goode to 2-Year Extension

Green Bay Packers long-snapper Brett Goode has signed a two-year contract extension, reports Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas, Goode joined the Packers in 2008 and has handled the snapping duties for the last 48 regular season games.

Goode was in the final year of his contract, and likely would have been a restricted free agent in the off-season.

As part of the extension, which was signed last week, Goode's $470,000 base salary was increased to $5.57 million for the final week of the regular season. That increased his total base salary for 2010 to $770,000.

Because the extension was agreed to after the trade deadline, the $300,000 increase in base salary is treated as a signing bonus, which will be prorated over the life of the extension.

Goode will earn base salaries of $560,500 in 2011 and $676,000 in 2012

Great player, glad to see we are keeping him on contract. Guess it does not get the publicity other signings have gotten today. Also was a great guess on your show!
