Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports that the Tennessee Titans and running back Chris Johnson are in discussions on a contract compromise that could head off a potential training camp holdout.

Neither the Titans nor Joel Segal, Johnson's agent, were available for comment, Wyatt adds. Johnson spoke to the paper last week, but declined to comment on his contract.

The two-time Pro Bowler is heading into the third season of a five-year, $12 million dollar contract he signed after being chosen with the 24th overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft out of East Carolina. Johnson has 3,997 total yards rushing and receiving, along with 26 touchdowns over the last two seasons.

In 2009, Johnson became just the sixth player in NFL history to top 2,000-yards rushing in a single season.
