Vikings Sign WR Freddie Brown

The Minnesota Vikings have signed free agent wide receiver Freddie Brown, Judd Zulgad of the Star Tribune reports.

Brown was a seventh-round pick (252nd overall) out of Utah by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009. Brown caught one pass for 18 yards in the 2009 pre-season, and was waived at the end of training camp. Added to the practice squad in November, Brown spent the off-season with the Browns before he was released on July 28 when the Bengals signed second-round pick Carlos Dunlap.

The 6-3, 215-pound Brown caught 116 passes for 1,358 yards and 7 touchdowns during his four-year career at Utah.

With Sidney Rice (hip, PUP) and Percy Harvin (migraines) not practicing, Brown gives the Vikings a big-bodied receiver for the pre-season.
