Seattle Seahawks assistant secondary coach Rocky Seto will be hired for the defensive coordinator position at UCLA, Trevor Wong of The Daily Trojan reports.

Seto spent 13 years at USC, two as a player followed by 11 as a coach, before following Pete Carroll to the Seattle Seahawks after he was not retained by Lane Kiffin.

The 34-year old Seto coached the Trojans' linebackers and secondary before becoming the defensive coordinator in 2009.

A defensive quality control coach for the Seahawks in 2010, Seto was promoted to assistant secondary coach on February 18. Seto would be the fourth assistant from Pete Carroll's inaugural Seahawks' staff to depart for the college ranks this off-season.

Defensive line coach Dan Quinn is now the defensive coordinator at the University of Florida, with secondary coach Jerry Gray accepting the same position at his alma mater, the University of Texas. Quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch is now the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at the University of Miami.

Seto's promotion in January was done, in part, to replace Gray.

UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel interviewed Seto for the position, which opened up after Chuck Bullough was fired in mid-December. Three other candidates, including former University of Miami head coach Randy Shannon, have been hired by other schools, or in the case of former Stanford assistant Vic Fangio, with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers.

UCLA has not officially announced the hiring.

"No one has been hired for the position at this time," UCLA football team spokesman Marc Dellins said on Tuesday.
