Wanndstedt To Coach Bills Linebackers

Former Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins head coach Dave Wannstedt has agreed to become the assistant head coach/linebackers coach of the Buffalo Bills, reports Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com.

Wanndstedt, 58, was recently fired after six seasons as the head coach of the University of Pittsburgh.

An NFL head coach for ten seasons with the Bears (1993-98) and Dolphins (2000-04), Wannstedt coordinated NFL defenses for five seasons, most recently with the 1999 Dolphins.

Wannstedt had interviewed for the Cleveland Browns' defensive coordinator position.

The Bills dismissed inside linebackers coach DelMontie Cross on January 7.

While Wanndstedt has the title of linebackers coach, his hiring is likely good news for current outside linebackers coach Bob Sanders, who coached the linebackers under Wanndstedt in Miami from 2001-04.
